Curb Your Dog!

In September we reminded residents that local government regulations require that all pets be kept on a leash and in the physical control of a person capable of preventing the animal from escaping.  These laws apply both on your property and off.

The board continues to receive complaints that these laws are being violated. We ask that all residents comply to protect your selves, your neighbors and your pets.  We also ask that you clean up after your animal.

Should animal enforcement find you in violation, the associated fees can be quite severe even for a first offense:

  • Failure to properly secure animal $55.00
  • Animal defecating/urinating on property $50.00
  • Dog or cat without attached animal license tag $40.00
  • Animal at large $55.00
  • Creation of a nuisance $100.00
  • Animal causing property damage $100.00
  • Attack causing ingury $220.00

If you are unsure how the rules apply to you, you can refer to the Animal Enforcement Ordinances.pdf.  If you still have questions or wish to report a violation, you should contact Brevard County Animal Services at 321-633-2024.
